Oxford Oak Home
Oak herringbone through a panelled hall

One of England's largest villages, one floor at a time.

Homes of Kidlington

1930s semis, post-war estates and a village centre that predates them all.

Kidlington is where a great deal of our work happens. Its streets of 1930s and 1950s semis have good-sized halls and reception rooms, often with the original boards still under the carpet, and owners who are renovating room by room.

It is also where we laid the herringbone through a panelled house that appears throughout this website: hall, study, snug and office in one unbroken pattern.

Why Kidlington homeowners call us

Because we have probably already worked on a house like yours, two streets away.

Semi-detached houses of this era share quirks: a step down to a rear extension, a hall that narrows past the stairs, joists that run the wrong way for the pattern you want. We have solved each of them many times, and we can show you the results locally.

Engineered oak

Engineered oak through a 1930s hall and front room, with the boards run to make the narrow hall feel longer and calmer.

Herringbone

A popular choice for any room, herringbone adds character and rhythm. We set out the pattern carefully so it feels balanced throughout the space.

LVT

For busy family homes, often with smaller children and pets. It gives you the character, look and feel of timber without the anxiety of spillages and scratches.

Often asked in Kidlington

Questions we hear at the door.

Often yes. We can level the step or make a clean oak nosing at the change in level; we will show you both options.

Yes. Several Kidlington clients are happy for us to show their floors by arrangement, and the panelled house is featured in our Stories.

Usually two days for a typical 1930s hall, including setting out, which is most of the skill.

Yes, along with Islip, Hampton Poyle and the villages towards Bicester.

Your Kidlington neighbours already know us.
